The Cutting Edge

Whether you say Look, two dead squirrels
or Lovers who fell from a tree,
what does it matter, driving the kid to school?

One you got death, two you got sex and death,
both a lotta onomatopoeia to buttress morning
kindergarten. And where in this case, class,

is the difference in I love you or I love my serrated life?
One you got platitude, two you got pathos, both
plenty of not much. Say I, um, hum him, or somesuch.
